ISO 12870 describes a test of bridge deformation under load and a test of the fit of the lens in the frame. To do this, the left lens is fastened between two ring-shaped clamping jaws. The right lens is then deformed downwards with a punch by up to 8 mm or up to a force of 5 N. After 5 s the glasses are relieved and after 20 s the deformation is measured. The permanent deformation must not exceed 2% and the spectacle frame must not show any cracks or breakage.
